The event served as a value-based cultural initiative aimed at fostering social cohesion, mutual respect, and intercultural dialogue among students, faculty, and staff. By sharing the traditional festive preparation in a collective setting, the college reinforced its commitment to celebrating India’s diverse heritage while nurturing an environment of equity, empathy, and belonging. NCC and NSS students participate in Phule Jayanti commemoration at Phule Wada

On 11th April, 2026, students from the NCC and NSS units of St. Vincent College observed Mahatma Phule Jayanti with a commemorative visit to Phule Wada in Pune. Located in close proximity to the college, the site served as Mahatma Phule’s workplace and residence and remains a recognized local heritage landmark. During the visit, students paid their respects at the premises and performed a street play that outlined key phases of Phule’s life and his efforts in promoting education and social reform. The performance was structured to clearly present his contributions to visitors and local residents, avoiding elaborate staging in favor of direct, accessible storytelling. The activity provided the cadets and volunteers with a straightforward opportunity to engage with regional history while reinforcing the community service and social awareness objectives central to both the NCC and NSS programs.

Themed reading day on occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti

On 14th April, 2026, St. Vincent College marked Ambedkar Jayanti with a Themed Reading Day dedicated to the critical study and dissemination of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideas. Despite the holiday, faculty and students gathered in substantial numbers in the college library, which served as the event’s dedicated reading zone. There, participants engaged deeply with Ambedkar’s seminal writings on constitutionalism, social justice, and educational empowerment, supported by faculty-guided reading circles and reflective discussions. The day was further enriched by an address from Principal Dr. Anil Adsule, who contextualized Ambedkar’s vision within contemporary civic and academic discourse, emphasizing critical reading as a vital tool for democratic engagement and social transformation. Embracing an ethos of open learning, the college kept its doors open and actively encouraged neighborhood residents to join, transforming the library into a shared forum for intergenerational dialogue. By prioritizing substantive intellectual exchange over ceremonial observance, the initiative successfully bridged campus scholarship with community participation, honoring Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy while reinforcing St. Vincent College’s commitment to an inclusive, critically engaged academic culture.

Field Visit for TYBCom Students

On 16th April, 2026, students of the T.Y. B.Com (Business Administration specialization) at St. Vincent College undertook a field visit to Somnath Milk Factory, Pune, as a structured component of their Business Administration curriculum. The visit was designed to bridge theoretical concepts with ground-level operational understanding, offering students first-hand exposure to the end-to-end functioning of a medium-scale dairy enterprise.

Upon arrival, the students were welcomed by the proprietors, Mr. Rakesh and his father, who led a comprehensive orientation session. They walked the group through the factory’s value chain—starting with milk collection from local farmers, quality testing protocols, pasteurization and packaging processes, cold-chain logistics, and last-mile distribution. Special attention was given to ancillary aspects such as the management of by-products (e.g., ghee, paneer, and whey utilization), workforce deployment across shifts, overhead cost allocation, and strategies for maintaining margins in a competitive market. The session also included a brief discussion on regulatory compliance, vendor relationships, and the role of technology in inventory and delivery management.

Students actively participated through guided observation and a Q&A segment, raising questions on supply chain resilience, pricing mechanisms, and scalability—thereby connecting classroom frameworks in operations, finance, and strategic management to practical decision-making contexts. The visit was conducted under the overall guidance of College Director Dr. Fr. Anish K., with institutional support from Principal Dr. Anil Adsule, Dr. Gilbi John, and Dr. Franklin Salvi. Subject faculty Mr. Milind Gaikwad and Dr. Radhakrishna Thange accompanied the cohort, facilitating on-site clarification of concepts and later coordinating a brief debrief to consolidate key takeaways.
