International Seminar on Sustainability

On November 7th, 2025, St. Vincent College welcomed Dr. Alison Ashby from the University of Exeter for a thoughtful and engaging seminar on sustainability. As a faculty member in Management and Computer Science, Dr. Ashby brought a practical, real-world perspective to the conversation—how institutions can embed sustainability not just as a policy, but as part of everyday thinking and action. The event, held in the morning, felt less like a lecture and more like a shared reflection—students and faculty alike found themselves connecting the dots between technology, ethics, and responsibility. Her presence quietly reinforced what we already believe here: that education isn’t just about what we teach, but how we live what we teach. It was a small moment, but one that left a quiet imprint—and we’ll be using what we learned to shape the next steps in our own work.

Inauguration and Enrolment of NCC Unit

St. Vincent College, Pune, successfully conducted its inaugural NCC enrolment and selection process on November 8th, 2025, under the supervision of Dr. Yogesh Mate, the newly appointed NCC Officer. This milestone event marked the college’s official entry into the National Cadet Corps, following formal allotment of 50 cadet vacancies for the 2025–26 training year. The rigorous selection included physical tests (running, pull-ups, push-ups), a written exam, and an interview, assessing both fitness and aptitude. Over 70 students participated enthusiastically, reflecting strong campus interest in disciplined leadership and civic service. The process adhered to NCC guidelines, ensuring 40% female (Senior Wing) and 60% male (Senior Division) representation. With enrolment now underway, the college looks forward to fostering values of discipline, unity, and national service through its new NCC unit.

100 People Project: Social Outreach by AICUF to Prem Niwas Old Age Home

On November 8th, 2025, students from the AICUF Unit of St. Vincent College visited PremNiwas, an old age home, as part of their social outreach program aimed at fostering empathy and social responsibility. The visit offered students a meaningful opportunity to connect with elderly residents through conversation, music, and shared moments of joy. They spent time listening to personal stories, learning about lived experiences, and offering companionship—simple acts that brought warmth and dignity to the elders.

The students organized a small musical program, playing songs on keyboard, guitar and Violin and singing along with the residents. The interactive session created a joyful atmosphere, bridging generations through melody and memory. Guided by faculty mentors, students reflected on the values of compassion, active listening, and service. The experience was deeply impactful, with many participants expressing how it opened their eyes to the emotional needs of the elderly. This visit reinforced the college’s commitment to nurturing not just academic excellence, but also humane and socially conscious individuals.

Interreligious dialogue and Intercultural exchange through Diwali and Guru Nanak Jayanti celebration in association with Lokayat

On November 9th, 2025, the AICUF Unit of St. Vincent College, Pune, in collaboration with Lokayat, organized a cultural evening titled “Celebration of Secularism” as part of the Samvidhan Jagar Abhiyan. Held to mark Diwali and Guru Nanak Jayanti, the event highlighted unity, peace, and India’s constitutional commitment to secularism.

Preparations began at 3:00 PM, with guests arriving by 6:30 PM for a program that opened with traditional Maharashtrian music. Workshop on Constitution of India by AICUF in association with Lokayat

St. Vincent College of Commerce successfully conducted a workshop on “The Constitution of India” on November 13, 2025, as part of its observance of Constitution Day. Organized by the AICUF (All India Catholic University Federation) Unit, the event was designed to deepen students’ understanding of constitutional values and promote civic awareness. The session featured Mr. Rushal Heena, an educator, activist, and volunteer with Lokayut, who brought both passion and clarity to the subject. With a background in engineering and experience in transformative education, Mr. Heena has dedicated his work to making learning more inclusive and engaging—especially in science and social justice. As the coordinator of The Sciencify India Programme, he has worked across a network of over 30 schools, fostering curiosity through hands-on workshops and inter-school initiatives. His involvement in movements related to peace, gender sensitization, and equality further enriched his perspective, allowing him to present the Constitution not just as a legal framework, but as a living document rooted in social equity and moral responsibility. The workshop provided a meaningful platform for students to reflect on the relevance of constitutional ideals in everyday life and their role as informed and active citizens.
