AICUF visit to Missionaries of Charity
On the 13th of March 2024, the AICUF team of St. Vincent’s College planned a visit to the “Missionaries of Charity”, which is a home for women who have certain mental health issues and who have been abandoned by their families. Our team consisted of 26 participants as well as Fr. Jesus Vivian Raja and Mr. Gilbi John, all of whom contributed in their own way, each of them also bringing along a few donations in the form of fruit. As we arrived, we could see that some of the women even suffer from physical disabilities alongside mental issues, which can take a toll on both them and their caretakers. However, upon our visit, we found that both the women as well the sisters who were taking care of them, all had a smile on their face and were happy despite of all the issues. Our team had organised a few songs, in which the women could join as well as a couple of dances, both of which brought a sense of cheer and liveliness to them. After spending more than an hour with them, the team took leave with a heavy heart but having learnt valuable lessons that they would cherish.
